The exciting opportunity to participate in a wood fuelled kiln firing, has Sharyn producing a lustrous set of wheel thrown pots this year.
The unique way the fire path weaves its way through the kiln, leaves many fire flashes, colour enhancements and markings that can never be repeated exactly.
Many of her ceramic works feature glazes inspired by the colourful sunsets and shadows of summer, or the tonal qualities of the thunderclouds that roll in over winter.
Sharyn was also a finalist in the 2011 Manningham Victorian Ceramic Award with two of her sculpture works, and along with her broad range of tableware, there is bound to be something to please, for its quality and strength, as well as its visual interest.
"I am continually experimenting with new pottery forms and glazes, and so the ups and downs of successes and failures, keeps me engaged in finding the ‘right one’."
