I am productive in the studio intermittently throughout the year. The focus of my work varies from Raku to “Provincial” terracotta and white earthenware pieces for the table and the kitchen, and occasionally, porcelaneous stoneware pieces.
I have been working with clay since 1974. My training has been informal. I have long periods of hiatus from the studio, during which I have been preoccupied with teaching, building, being the primary caregiver for my two boys, and “swanning around” local cafes! When in the studio I periodically try to incorporate some whimsical decoration in my pieces i.e. the series of “beetle” pots that I produced a few years ago, and the more recent “Cow Jumped Over the Moon” plates. Lately my focus has been on Raku, appreciating its immediacy and unpredictability.
